Sharing expertise to reach the best outcomes for children

Children and families have the best outcomes when professionals work together and share their expertise. Case review is a formal process which enables the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to monitor and assess its effectiveness, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and families. During this process, the knowledge, experience and expertise of MDT members are shared so that informed decisions can be made, collaborative efforts are nurtured, formal and informal communication is promoted, mutual support is provided and, protocols and procedures are reviewed.
